Emet (Ken Oestreich)

Within a rare earth magnet
Flows an endless flux circuit
From north to south and back again
On its predictable journey

Gauss and Maxwell easily calculate
Why opposite poles attract
Neatly minimizing the energy
And why flux derivatives induce electric potentials

Twist the poles north to north
And try to press them together
Feel the exponential force resist your desire
But the tiniest misalignment will propel them apart

Physicists infer our perception is relative
Philosophers deliberate upon what we term logic
And our Rabbis debate the roots of our ethics
As we strive to conclude an absolute
The more minute discrepancies cause Truth to evade us.
